Exposition of the Books of Ezra, Nehemiah and Esther

In the book of Ezra, God now restores a small remnant, and rebuilds the temple according to the promises which He gave Jeremiah. The authority of the law was restored, and the people of Israel were separated from the nations and separated for God. Jeremiah had a deep sense of the true condition of the people, and he wants God to get the right place again.

The book of Nehemiah describes the reconstruction of the wall of Jerusalem. In Nehemiah we see a man whose heart is touched by the sufferings of his people. Nehemiah's heart turned to God and sought his strength in God. Through this trust, He could overcome the greatest obstacles and work with God's help for the good of the people.

Only a small part of the people of Israel has returned to Jerusalem. In the book of Esther, we now see the situation of the Jews outside their country. There, too, the people of Israel are under the hand of God, for He continues to keep faithful to them even though they no longer cling to Him. God cares for His people and keeps them while they are living in the midst of enemies. This shows how gracious and faithful our God is, for He loves this people despite their infidelities.

These historical books of the Old Testament are considered by H. Rossier in a well-understandable and profound way. A great help to understand the teachings of these books and bring about a usefulness for the practical life of faith.
