A very useful aid for a better understanding these two letters to Timothy by A. Remmers
Exposition of the Letters to Timothy
Timothy, as a servant of Jesus Christ and a collaborator of the Apostle Paul, had an important task to fulfill in Ephesus. But for this task he had to know the thoughts of God. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Paul writes this letter to Timothy, dealing with the divine order in the life of the faithful.
In the second letter to Timothy, Paul writes of "hard times" because the failure of men has led to disorder and decay. Paul writes to Timothy to instruct him, to exhort him and to encourage him to hold fast to the Word of God (2 Timothy 3:14-17)
The Christian who wants to live as a faithful servant of the Lord is not always easy at this time, but he is not alone. Difficulties should not be a cause for the believers to be frightened or weak, for we are asked: "You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus." (2 Timothy 2:1)
Verse-by-verse, these two letters are considered. The interpretation is detailed and easy to understand.
