King Eagle (Albanian)
"But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint". (Isaiah 40:31)
"Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed". (John 8:36)
An Albanian father wants to spend his free time with his son and takes him on a trip to the zoo. The boy is thrilled. The two admire the many different animals, but one animal interests the little boy in particular: the impressive, beautiful eagle. But suddenly the boy becomes very thoughtful: "Why is this beautiful eagle locked up in such a small cage, Dad?" - "So you and I can admire him today, my son. If he were free, we couldn't look at him."
After this long day, the boy falls tired and exhausted into bed in the evening. Immediately he falls asleep and begins to dream of the beautiful eagle. In his dream he opens the eagle's cage door, which immediately spreads its wings and rises into the air, into freedom.
We humans are very similar to the eagle. We are trapped - not in a cage - but by sin, because natural man can only sin. But God doesn't want us to live like this. He created us to be free and to live for Him and with Him. But how can we escape from this cage of sin? God gave us His Son, Jesus Christ, who died for our sins on the cross. He wants to take off the bonds of sin and set us free. Only through Him can we know what real freedom means.
This evangelistic short story is very well suited for distribution and especially appeals to the Shqipta ("eagle sons" = Albanians).
