The Coming of the Lawless, Thoughts on 2 Thessalonians 2
In the second part of the letter, the Apostle deals with the concrete theme, which for him was also the actual occasion to write to the faithful in Thessalonica once again. The enemy had used the trials and persecutions as an opportunity to mislead them. They said that the day of the Lord is already here, and that before they reach the final blessing, they must go through the great tribulation that the day of the Lord will bring throughout the world. The Apostle appeals to the saints: "We ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you by any means." He bases his request on the great fact which he had already mentioned to the faithful in the first letter: "The coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him." This great event will precede the Day of the Lord.
